Messina Primary’s Top 5 Academic Achievers – 3rd Term

Congratulations to Messina Primary‘s top five academic achievers for the 3rd term. These brainiacs worked hard despite this being such a busy term. They are as follows:

Messina Primary’s 1st Night-time Interhouse Gala

Messina Primary‘s first evening gala, held on Monday evening, was a great success.

The Tigerfish team won hands down.

Sherise Pieterse, Boeta Naudé, Chloe Nathan and Arno Roets were respectively named as senior and junior Victrix and Victor Lodorum. Chloe Nathan and Hanno Roos also won trophies for best progress during the swimming season.

Scholarships Awarded


Congratulations to Munadia Islam and Sinead Linder for receiving scholarships at two prestigious high schools in the Limpopo Province. Both Munadia and Sinead received scholarships from Mitchell House Preparatory School which will allow them to attend the school at a discounted fee. Sinead also received a scholarship from Stanford Lake College near Tzaneen. We are sure that you will make the most of this opportunity.


Cricket News

Messina Primary’s u/ 11 and u/13 cricket teams played Mitchell House on Aug. 5th. Both teams did an excellent job.

The u/11’s batted first, in their match and racked up a whopping 212 runs, after which they bowled the Mitchell House side out for a mere 88runs. Stars were captain Brian Vermeulen with 88 not out and 4 wickets for only 12 runs. Abri Whelan also got 51 not out.

Our u/ 13 ‘s fielded first and limited Mitchell House to only 130 runs. We chased down the score in just 18.4 overs.

Then on Aug. 19, Messina Primary School’s u/11 and u/13 teams played PEMPS. Again, both teams did good work in demolishing their opposition.

Our u/11’s batted first and were taken out for 89. Then, our bowlers restricted PEMPS  to just 84 for 9 in their 20 overs. Abri Whelan did well with 3 wickets for 16 runs.

Our u/ 13 team batted first and a achieved a huge total of 212 in 20 innings. Then we cleaned up the PEMPS boys for only 33 runs, all out. Stars during the match were Martin van Niekerk with 103 not out, Erik Limbach with 50 not out and Wiets Beukes with three wickets for 10 runs. Indeed a number of young cricketing stars!

    Please let’s support each other in fighting crime. Crime does not happens only at the location or n town. It happens everywhere and anytime. Let’s keep our and ears open at all time.. Let’s always keep the door closed
